Had so much inspiration last night and so this morning woke up with a mission!! As usual Ern woke up much earlier than me but this morning she was way early. 6am!! So as soon as she woke up she crawled over to my bed and lay right next to me. Though not making a sound at all and obviously trying to go back to sleep (since mummy is still sleeping) I was wide awake by her tossig and turning : )
SO immediately after her breakfast we set off at 8am to the wet market to get some fresh produce and to cold storage for some herbs and spices.
Fish soup (pasta)
1 fish head
3 litres of water
1 pork bone
1 garlic clove (peeled and smashed)
1/2 onion (sliced)
1 carrot (peeled and chopped)
ginger (about 8-10 slices)
1 potato (peeled and chopped)
a little salt and pepper to taste (optional)
So it’s really simple but it takes hours to be ready coz I simmer it for about 3.5 hours so that the taste will be rich. Hubby tried it and said it was really good! Making me feel that all is not wasted : )
I parboil the bones first. Then boil the water and add the bones .. basically add EVERYTHING except tofu, cod fish, salt and pepper. When it is almost done, add the rest in and that’s it!
What I’d like to try the next time:
fry some ikan bilis and and them to the soup.
Next up creamy rice pudding! (Ern loves them leh..)
11/3 cup water
2/3 cup long grain rice
1 can evaporated milk
1/2 cup chopped bananas (may try raisins too)
1/3 cup sugar (1/2 cup if you prefer the taste to be sweeter)
3 teaspoon vanilla essence
dash of nutmeg and cinnamon
2 eggs (lightly beaten)
Add water and rice to a large pot and bring to a boil then simmer till all water is absorbed.
Then add all the rest of the ingredients (eggs last) and keep stirring.
Bring to a boil and then cook for about 5 more mins. Done!
Sigh… too anxious to feed her that I forgot to take pictures!! Hope to do so the next time. Ta-ta…
